Well, I don't type in Ebonics, but I can tell you why they do it b/c I live in the dirty South :) and I have a strong country accent and a lot of the time I type how I talk. I usually only do that when I'm talking to a person who knows me, b/c then they can actually visualize me saying it. I know b/c my friends who read my e-mail tell me so, "Hey, I can hear you sayin' that when I read it!" It gives more personality and character to the message....the reason people type in Ebonics is probably for the same. It's reflective of the individual rather than being the same type/grammar that everyone uses it. What's wrong with being a little different?

Hi Drew,
I think that every generation comes up with it's own slang words... it's what appears "cool" to them. I agree that it makes it a little more difficult to read, but like someone else mentioned... this is an informal forum. I don't think anyone here is in the running for a Pulitzer, and they want to appeal to others in their respective peer group.
I hope that they actually know correct grammar, and teach it to their offspring, when the time comes. Thanks for the interesting question...

do no longer all youngsters particularly lots write some whacked out form of abbreviated English in emails, besides? So in case you are able to study that, then i assume you are able to study something -- Ebonic-emails blanketed. So do no longer stress your self out.

Unfortunately, that is the result of poor parenting and poor schooling, largely poor effort on the part of the students. People don't realize how ignorant they are because they are surrounded by that sort of culture, so they believe it is normal and acceptable. Next they will wonder why they can't get a decent job and blame it on everything and everyone but themselves and their poor educational background. Shocking but true.

The answer to your question is very simple; That's how they want to express themselves. If that's the way they talk, chances are that they will type in the same manner. I have no problem with it.

Maybe that makes their life easier. I don't think that's any different than the abbreviations we use in chats/emails today. What, you never say how r u or cya? Happens to all of us, trust me.

Because people are sheep and will follow along with the herd without question and without considering how incredibly stupid it makes them appear. Or maybe because they are extremely lazy.
Okay, I think I have it now - because they are lazy sheep!
