well i usually call them tennis shoes even though sometimes i say sneakers, but to me the work sneakers just sounds silly. And I am from California.

In the Philippines, where I'm from.. we actually call them "rubber shoes". Yeah, kinda lame so when I moved to the Atlanta, I call 'em Tennis Shoes

It depends on what your using the shoe for! If your a runner then a running shoe If your just going to the gym a crosstrainer If they are just an everyday shoe I would call them just shoes

I grew up in the Midwest.
My English friends call them trainers.
Some other friends just call them shoes.
