about 6 years ago i fell down the stairs and am pretty sure i fractured my ankle. i didn't have insurance so i wrapped it and stayed off it for about a month (the bones moved apart wierd when i put my leg out in front of me on the floor and turned my foot) and took pain killers. ever since then when it gets particularly humid or rains it hurts very bad. 2 weeks ago i took a really long walk with my kids (pushing a double stroller) and over worked my muscles. since then the bones in the top of my foot have been hurting when i walk without shoes on, and now the pain is going from the top of my foot up through my knee, working it's way into my hip. i don't know what's wrong here, and i just want it to rain and get it over with. is there something i can do to ease the pain until it rains? i can't take it anymore. will the doctor tell me suffer through or help me?

Sounds like arthritis has set in pretty badly to me..........Go to the doc and see if your ankle grew back together correctly to begin with (if not, it will have to be rebroken and SET).........There's not much you can do about having arthritis, though.......Aleve seems to help with mine...........Take care.........

Well, I am not surprised you have knee pain if you have foot problems. If you are having foot problems then you are most likely compensating by changing how you walk and this, in turn, is affecting your natural gait which is affecting the proper alignment of your knee, causing your knee pain. And yes, having extra weight will cause trouble for both, but exercise is crucial for losing weight. You will find non-weight bearing or non-pounding exercises the best considering the pain you are having. Swimming, cycling (exercise bike), Stairmaster, the Elliptical are just a few suggestions. There is also Yoga, Pilates, Tai Chi and other things you can do for exercise. Talk to your doctor or get a referral for a physical therapist from your doctor.

The doctor will do radiology work up X ray etc. and may send you to a orthopedic doctor. Between the two they will decided and talk to you about what needs to be done to make your foot better. Do go to the Dr. Then its up to you if you want to follow their advice. Walking with out shoes is not good because your foot has no support. Also if you are going to do long walks start out with short walks and work up to long walks over a period of time. You could use a heating pad or bengay and a ace wrap bandage. You may have a pinched nerve. A month is not long enough you would have had to be totally not getting up at all. If the Doctor does tell you to suffer through it --find another doctor.

You should see a doctor so he/she can rule out the possibility of a blood clot. You could have a pinched nerve, that would cause pain to go up or down the leg. Physical Therapy may help that.

Just read where you said the pain is worse and you can hardly walk. I would go with safety and make a trip to the ER.

sounds like you may have developed a pinched nerve causing what's called "referred pain"...you should definitely see the doctor, and no, he won't tell you to suffer through it. If he does, get another doctor!

Every hospital has to treat patients if they have insurance or nor, you have to get ex rays to find out what has happened for sure. You must take care of yourself, to be able to properly care for you children,
