Well it seems that all movies are now made in new york, so Im wondering I seen a few movies that were filmed in chicago, one was actually by my house. But how does someone know when they are filming a movie in your area, town, or city? maybe getting in as an extra.

Sometimes casting directors will place ads in the newspaper or classifieds about 3-4 weeks before filming begins. Or you can call up a talent scout and have your name and photo put on file for when the next film comes around...

How else can you know? Watch the news. I wonder if they filmed part of "United 93" near Pittsburgh. I live in Pa, but three hours away from the crash site.

Usually the paranoid local news station will be "Reporting Live!!" to say that a new movie is coming to town. That's how it usually happens

Most every state, and most large cities, have a relations person who handles requests for movies. Find this office and see what you can learn there.

posely 'we own the night', and 'the good shepard' were filming around here.
