Contact the phone company and see if they can put a tracer on the phone.

Your friend should take this stalking VERY seriously! What you need to do is to call the police, so that they can call the telephone company and get the number and information they need to find this person. The phone companies will not give you any of the information about the telephone number, or the person to whom the number is registered, nor will they trace the call without a court order. Getting that information takes a court order, that's why getting the police involved is imperative. Please tell your friend that this is nothing to take lightly; it may just be aggravating phone calls but in most cases of true stalking, the problem escalates, and can get extremely dangerous.
The next time the person calls your friend, tell her to call the police, make sure she keeps an accurate record of the date/times that this man has called her from this point on, so that she can assist them in giving the police the information they need. There is a telephone code that the phone company can give your friend, she needs to call them and tell the that she is being harrassed and they will tell her the number code to press that will help them track the call. No time to waste, get her to do it asap!

She would have to file a police report then contact the local phone company or service provider depending on if it's a cellphone or land line and ask them to put a trap on the line. She would need to do this though. She could also just change her number might be an easier solution. Unless of course this person knows her personally and knows where she lives.

Tell your friend to get a peace bond put out on this person.
And to save all in coming calls to your friends answering machine. If your friend does not have one. Get one. And don't anwer the phone for a week. Talking to a stalker does not help the situation. Just let the stalker leave messages and soon enough you will have one that is good enough for the police to hear. Stalkers like to blame all their problems on the person they are stalking. In the end the stalker can end up making death threats.
Good luck and tell your to be careful.

well honestly, i first told the guy i had a bladder problem (cuz my girl friends would pull me into the nearest bathroom everytime he was around, just to help me), that didn't work, so I lied and told him that I was a lesbian. (which didn't work either)

In the end, I ended up writing this mean note to him, that I never intended on giving to him. However, it got into the wrong hands, and he ended up reading it. And poof, he dissapeared...although we occasionally say hi.

UNFORTUNATELY YOU CAN'T DO ANYTHING. THE POLICE NOR THE PHONE COMPANY WON'T ACT UNLESS SHE TAKES CONTACTS THEM.
THE BEST THING TO DO IS CONTINUE TO TRY AND CONVINCE HER THAT THAT'S THE BEST COARSE OF ACTION.
