what you look like on the outside is what they put you in, i think most trannies likely rent places off base together so that they are a little safer.

Sweety, this is college level. People who are transgendered/transsexual are NOT considered to have a disability and therefore do NOT and are NOT given "reasonable accommodations." OK?
The other thing you may find out about college is that people tend to be more open-minded and view situations and people as a lesson in learning.
If you really think you deserve special handling, forget it. People are treated as people. Same treatment no matter who you are.
If you are still concerned, call the student medical center, remain anonymous and simply ask. Are you ashamed to be who you are?
I have legal blindness and have had two different organs transplanted. I do receive certain items in large print format, but I am treated no differently than any other student. I do not get all the accommodations I need from every prof. and speak with each one prior to the semester start date. That way we are both clear on what will be happening once classes begin.
Transgendered/transsexual behavior is no longer considered to be deviant behavior anymore, and has been removed from the DSM III, DSM IIIR and DSM IV as an "atypical" behavior. DSM = Diagnostic and Statistical Manual and is used by psychologists, psychiatrists and counselors. It explains more precisely what mental illnesses are considered deviant and to what extreme the behavior needs to be at before being considered as a "crazy person" illness.
I hope that helps!

They put them in the dorm they belong in depending on what they mark off as their gender on the forms transgender is not an option and if the other people on the floor have a problem they move them although since most colleges have co ed dorms its not really a big deal might even get a single room out of the deal and singles are great I had one cause I'm a cripple and never had any roomates kicking me out or to kick out when we brought a date back like in the doubles and triples

you're in college, so I bet you have ramen noodles everywhere. Get a bottle of stir fry sauce. Now the world is your oyster. Whatever is on sale at the market is great. some broccoli, ramen noodles (without spices), stir fry sauce, and parmesian cheese is awesome. chicken? Good too. for the convection oven you can make so many things. Google some convection oven recipes. Basically anything you can make in a regular oven can be made there. Now here is a trick I use a lot. You know those frozen pizzas that you get for a dollar and they taste like they were made from cardboard? get a few of those. they may not be great on their own, but combined with whatever leftovers you have in the fridge they are awesome. half a tomato, some garlic, and lunch meat on top is great. You can literally top them with anything to make a pizza that will rival anything you can get delivered. I've even used leftover chinese food on top and it was awesome. Just set the cook time a little longer than normal. another cheap and easy solution is to buy tortilla shells and use them as a sort of crust for mini pizzas/wraps. Just put whatever you like on them. you can also make rice in the convection oven by bringing the water/rice to a boil in the microwave the transferring it to a lidded oven safe pot for the convection oven to finish. If that's too much trouble you can buy microwaveable rice packets that are really good and done in 90 seconds. The potential is endless with those.

Once a transsexual has the minimum required amount of surgery for thier state they usually get a court order gender change on birth their birth certificate.. Some states will change the gender marker from one sex to the other simply with a letter from the a doctor... but at a college they have to put you with your legal sex at the present time... If a transsexual has not had their legal ducuments or identification documents changed they will be placed in dorms with biologic gender peers.e.g females.. If they have had all their documentation changed then they will be placed with the their reassigned genders peers.... males..
Just like a transsexual who gets in legal trouble.... If a person who was assigned female at birth transitioned to male and goes through the court and gets a legal gender change they are then legally Male... and they will go to a mens prison... the fact they may stil in fact is irrelevant.... He would most likely remain isolated for his personal safety but thats how it works...

I think they just put you in with whichever gender you identify as. Though it's not necessarily the best measure of what gender a person could identify as, I think most of the time they will assume that your gender matches the name you registered with-- example, if the name you registered for college with is Stephanie, they'll probably put you with another girl, regardless of what actual equipment you have below the belt.
Though... I've never heard first hand of any case like this. I think that if I was in that situation, I'd just choose to live off-campus.
I don't know what standard procedure is, though, for someone of ambiguous gender-- for anyone who falls in the middle. I think they always try to assume you're on one side or the other.

yea the best bet is to rent an appt. other wise if you have not had the surg. they will put you in the girls dorm because of the risk that a guy might try and rape you '' to help you not be the way that you are''
sorry to say but it is safer that way if you are not able to rent
what university you going to each state is diff you might be able to request a lesbian roommate or a tg

It wouldn't be discrimination, because they did become another gender, so they would go to their chosen gender's dorm. If there was a specified dorm room, I would suspect that there would be problems. It would be like a siren telling who is trans, setting up opportunity for harrassment.

I guess whever the individual wants to identify as. Did you know that if you have the right "equipment" you can legally register as the other sex? I saw a guy who had his drivers license changed from male to female.
