I know some charge tax for owning a car, and others do not. So what about for a house?

I think all states have property tax, but the rates vary greatly from state to state.

I don't know of any state that doesn't a property tax of some sort. Check for your state, but I believe it depends a lot on the value. Greater the value, the greater the tax most likely.
