Other than breating through your mouth, or moving out of the house you could try;
A corticosteroid nasal spray. This is a perscription only medicine and you will need to see your doctor. It works by reducing inflamation and secretions in the nasal passage.
An antihistamine medication, this is an anti allergy medication that can reduce nasal secretions/swelling. You can get these either through your doctor or at your local pharmacy. An example would be telnase.
Something with menthol eg. lozenges designed to clear the nose, these are available at convienence stores, supermarkets or pharmacists. Other options would be vics vapour rub or tiger balm etc.
It is possible that the blockage could be cause by a nasal polyp, this is less likely as it sounds like you have an acute problem rather than a slow gradual blockage. A nasal polyp is like a little growth/tumour in your nose. These are not life threatening an can be removed via surgery.
If you suffer from hayfever, allergies, asthma or ezema it is likely the nose blockage is due to allergies. I would recommend seeing your local doctor for and ask if antihistamines or corticosteroid nasal spray will help.
In the first instant I would try a hot shower, sitting up in bed, and an over the counter home remedy like vics vapour rub / tiger balm / lozenges.
Good Luck
Regards
Dr Stewart

i totally feel your pain!!! allergies are the WORST thing to have when they get irritated. right now, i'd say to keep the door to the room you're staying in shut, and if you can stand it, put a wet cloth over your face for awhile. take a claritin, sudafed, or benadryl to ease the symptoms.
if you'll be there awhile, try an air purifier. NEVER use a fan, keep the allergy pills going, and go see a dr-an allergy specialist, your family physician, or an ER dr. they can prescribe you some steroid nasal spray that has worked wonders for me. i dont know how i lived without it...
good luck!

Go for Prayanamam yogic excerise, twice a day. First try to breath with one nostril at a time. Next Close one nostril with a finger, inhale through the other and exhale through the closed one. Repeat this with both the nostrils. Finally, inhale with both nostrils, hold the breath for some time and exhale at the same time. Do this in a slow and steady manner. best of luck

take a whiff of vick's vapor rub if you have it. even rub a little on your lip when you sleep so it stays with you through the night.
if you want to drain your sinuses fast boil some water and pour it into a large bowl. put a towel over your head and stick your face close to the water and breathe in the steam. use the towel to trap the steam close. take deep breaths of the steam.
lastly, take a cold can of soda, beer, whatever. an ice pack would work too. press the can into your sinuses alongside your nose. use firm pressure and do both sides. then take some cold water, splash it on your hands and rub it into your nose and sinuses vigorously.
one of those 3 almost always works for me.

I use Rite Aid Nasal Decongestant, that works within minutes, but you can also try diluted Hydrogen Peroxide and spray that into your nostrils, that might help clear you out. Then blow your nose, that always helps me. Good luck.

Use nasal spray & nasal strips & try taking a hot shower. Also sleep propped up a bit & try to figure out what you're allergic to.
