There are people everywhere with good and bad attitudes, I know; however, in some places, one attitude tends to prevail among people more than another.

-Kentucky...most of it! Louisville (tops), Lawrenceburg, Frankfort, and Winchester take the cake! The only exceptions are Murray, Cadiz, Mayfield, and Harrodsburg. Talk about some mannerless, mean-spirited folks. (I've lived here, I should know.)
-Evansville, IN
-Dayton, OH
-Manhattan, KS
-Illinois
-Detroit
-Northern New Jersey
-California (most of the state, especially the large cities)
-Phoenix

Nicer places:
-Texas (except Dallas and the very tourist-oriented sites)
-Alabama (mostly)
-Mississippi (especially Southhaven and Jackson)
-Louisiana (except New Orleans)
-Oklahoma City
-Tulsa
-Corydon, IN
-Tennessee (except for Knoxville and Chattanooga)
-Atlanta, GA...surprisingly
-Michigan (the rural areas)

The TOP list: RUDEST folks
The BOTTOM list: FRIENDLIEST folks

Sorry I forgot to specify both of those.

I believe the south is the least friendly. The south has a dark legacy of slave-owning. Owning another human being has to be just about the rudest and most unfriendly act!

With every day pass, our country is getting into more and more trouble. The inflation, unemployment and falling value of dollar are the main concern for our Government but authorities are just sleeping, they don’t want to face the fact. Media is also involve in it, they are force to stop showing the real economic situation to the people. I start getting more concern about my future as well as my family after watching the response of our Government for the people that affected by hurricane Katrina.

According to recent studies made by World Bank, the coming crisis will be far worse than initially predicted. So if you're already preparing for the crisis (or haven't started yet) make sure you watch this video at http://www.familysurvival.tv and discover the 4 BIG issues you'll have to deal with when the crisis hits, and how to solve them fast (before the disaster strikes your town!) without spending $1,000s on overrated items and useless survival books.

NEW YORKERS, On the EAST COAST, some think that if you do not pronounce a certain word the way they feel it should be pronounce then you are saying it wrong, and they are very RUDE @ the Baseball Games. While living in GA @ one time people maybe living next door/same neighborhood with you and don't wave/speak. Found this to be the case here in my home state, But it varies, people are people and depending on them back ground not really so much where they are from People can be nice or hate full by choice.

No-one mentioned Wisconsin. I was brought up there and they are really friendly and curtious. Especially if you live in the rural areas. Wouldn't it be nice if we could go back in time when the world wasn't so hecktic? I think people are rude because they see so much of it they have to be that way to fit in. I for one do not ever want to be rude to anyone. I think you get what you give. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. Have a good evening to all.

The absolute rudest people ever, period live in the Marina neighborhood in San Francisco. I used to work there and would say simple phrases, being kind and doing my job, these vicious people would verbally attack me and others around them.
Btw, the rest of San Francisco is wonderfully nice. so is the whole state.

The nicest? The whole state of Utah :-)

Las Vegas is where the rudest people are. This is supposed to be a city of hospitality, being the entertainment capital of the world. But most people who who work in hotels and casinos are hypocrites and would appear to be nice to you only if they can get money from you. Money talks a lot in this place. A real "sin city".

I'm from the Midwest where everyone is supposed to be nice and polite - and really for the most part they are. But I have lived and traveled all over the east coast and I have found that most people are really nice. As long as you are polite mostly people are too.

I think you have answered your own question..

There is good in everyone and everywhere. If you look for the bad you will find the bad.

I am from Indiana and I am really surprised that you have Indiana in both places. But that's your opinion.

I have only lived in Nevada, Colorado and California. And my own experience tells me that California is full of very rude people. The other two States are quite friendly.
