Fine. Let's all do it. No excuses.

My friends, the American Red Cross blood supply is seriously low. They are in dire need of any Type O blood. But all types would be welcome. It doesn’t hurt to give blood and you may just help save a life. And you’ll feel a little better about yourself.

MusicMan, are you a Nam vet, too? I lost 30% of my hearing. But, hey, we came back in one piece.

Panacea, your facts are a little off. The only time the Red Cross will sell blood is if they have a surplus (which is rare) and then only because blood expires.

no problem here, I just wished people understood what it costs to make sure that the Blood that you donate doesn't kill the person who needs it so badly, With so many blood borne pathogens out there, would you really want to worry after 3 units of blood was given to you to stabilize you after a tragic accident if you had accidental been given AIDS, or Hepatitis. Thanks but they can gladly make some profit to offset the cost, and liability insurance required to transfer that blood into the life saving side of the Hospital.

I would give, but I have Hep C.

I did give until a blood test, when I was giving blood, revealed that I had Hep C.

Do not suppose that just because a person doesn't give blood is suggestive of a lack of caring.

I feel better about myself for not polluting the blood system of others.

Oh, and by the way, I didn't get Hep C from drug use. I got a tattoo. I paid five hundred dollars to get Hep C.

Excelent reminder. I try and donate every chance I get. O+ here. It is kind of funny when I donate because I'm a paramedic now. When they look over the part about have you ever been exposed to people with..... I have half the boxes checked. I have a blood check up every 6 months or so, so I am clean.

I don't mind giving any blood at all but here in s.a. Tx. we have a blood bank that takes the blood and sells it to the hospitals. If they are so in need of blood spread the love and pay for our blood we are giving don't just give us a cup of juice and say goodbye, thanks for the 75 buck profit we just made off your donation. I am not being mean, I'm just stating my opinion. Like I said I would give blood in a heartbeat for free, but not for somebody to make a profit of it.

I would if I could, but due to something I picked up while shedding blood in Southeast Asia in the 60's, I can't. But right on with the reminder.

I have type O blood. I refuse to give it to them. Why? Because I found out that they sell most of the blood they collect to pharmaceutical companies so they can cull proteins out of it for money. If they are going to do that for profit, they should pay people for the blood. I'm only interested in donating if my blood is, in fact, given to someone who needs it. Until they allow me to choose where my blood goes (ie they allow me to dictate to them that my blood is for people who need it only), they can go to hell.
