I bought this card because I am a casual gamer. The benchmark read high enough for my game. I would like to optimize its setting for performance and visual (not maximize). It also has a slight irritating sound that occurs periodically. I am running a pentium D 2.6 ghz.

VERY IMPORTANT FOR YOU TO CHECK : the irritating sound probably comes from the cooler of the videocard, which might fail sooner or later. Check if lot of dust is present and clean it ASAP or return the video card to the supplier for replacement or fix
It might be also the cooler from the CPU,which is even WORSE.
Optimizing the performance, apart from downloading the latest drivers from the nvidia site is related to overclocking the memory and the graphical cpu of the video card. However, until you find out what is the problem with the cooler,do not attempt overclocking,as overclocking heats up the card .
