on Yahoo Messenger, you have to have message archive activated...the new version (beta) defaults to saving messages, but clearing them after signout. You need to go to Preferences, then down to Archive, and set it to save all messages. To read messages, at the top of the messenger itself, click on contacts, then go down to Message Archive, and you'll see all your saved messages. You can also, if you want to see messages from one particular contact, right click on that person in your list, and it will bring up some options, one of which is Message Archive (but you will only see conversations with that person)

yes. look for more information in your help guide installed in the messenger. you want to find out if it logs chat history, and if there is a hot button associated that will let you call for the history when you want.

That depends (Yahoo or MSN) whether you have archive switched on, if you have then yes you can, if not, did the other person have their archive switched on? if they did then they can send the transcript to you
