It depends..
If your contract is over with nextel..
There is no charge to move your number from Nextel to Cingular..
Well If you still have a contract.. You will need to Buy out your contract or pay the early terminatin fee to move..
But its totally free to move your #.. If you do not have a contract!

Unless you have special circumstances like not be able to get any signal etc then yes, you will have to pay a contract cancelation fee. and depending when you last signed up with your previous carrier there contract there is going to be a 200.00 Dollar contract cancelation with nextel.

Well, you are supposed to. Verizon tried to jack me around on a bill, and I refused to pay. Later on, I contacted them and asked if I paid the past bill, could I reinstate my cell service. They told me yes. I paid the past bill, and they came back and said oh, by the way, I would have to pay an $800.00 deposit before service would be reconnected.
They lied to me. I then contacted my Credit Card company and filed a payment dispute, got my money back and they now have nothing. My point is, all this Simon says crap is not worth losing any sleep over. or at least I don't.
