You meant "ballad."
Yes, "Stairway to Heaven" is definitely a ballad--mostly because it doesn't have the characteristic rock 'n' roll drum beat. But because Led Zeppelin is a rock group, all of their songs are categorized as being rock.

Stairway starts off as a folksy ballad then progresses through to rock in the last part. Bohemian Rhapsody does a similar thing, starting as a mournful ballad going through operatic parts to rock. Both great music!

Okay, how many questions do we have here? Is it the best song? Is it a ballad? Is it not a song? Well, it's both a ballad and a song. A ballad is a song! I love Zeppelin, and it's a great song, but maybe not the BEST. Perhaps ONE of the best.There are so many great songs, I can't pick just one!

Based upon MY definition of music (music is a collection of notes in a melody that is comfortable and easy to listen to and understandable.) Though done by a rock group, I dont think it is a rock song. (no screaming or other acts of violence) Good melody, easy words and understandable. It is good in its field or genre Love hurts by Nazereth is also good. Wheel in the sky etc..

it is a rock song, if a melodic one...not only do i not consider it the best rock song ever, but i frankly think it's the single most overplayed and overrated rock song ever...but to each their own
