I have a honda. the other day i was on the way to work and took a right hand turn. i heard a pop (maybe snap) sound while I was turning. it happened twice during that drive. it did not happen when i turned left. what would cause this? is it expensive to fix? thanks for all of your help.

One of your outboard C/V joints has worn out. You can buy another axle for about $60.00 to $90.00, depending on where you buy it. If you have a mechanic who will put it in, that will cost you a couple of hours labor per side. You can buy just the joints themselves, but they usually cost about $140.00 each, and there are two per axle.

Popping noise usually means CV joint or half shaft is going out. Its about a 2hr job x $90 an hour labor plus $ 60 - $100 for parts.

Where did the sound come from? What exactly did it sound like? I would simply look inside the engine and see if you haven't run over something that got stuck and thrown up into the wheel well /engine.
Or, go to Pep Boys and explain it in great detail.

The fixture could be increasing from the warmth, or between the sockets could be getting warm via a foul connection with the backside of the bulb. Take the glass dome off, unscrew the bulbs and seem interior the sockets to work out if there is any burning.

first check to see that the lug nuts are tight. then it could be a cv joint. a shop like swab tires will inspect and tell you the suspected problems for free.

Was there a crackle? Maybe somebody was eating Rice Crispies. Seriously, your car doesn't like going to work.

usually this is a CV joint...it can get dry and it will have to be rebuilt...or buy a new shaft ..not very expensive...the longer you wait the worse it gets....

It could be your lower ball joint. I had mine fixed with the same problem.
