Of course. Every river empties somewhere. Hundreds of them empty into the Great Lakes, such as the Detroit river, Saginaw river, Rifle river, etc.

A stream on the other hand doesn't empty into a sea, ocean or lake - it empties into a river. So... several streams join together to make a river and the river flows into a sea, ocean or lake.

...yeah that's how almost all lakes form...from underwater springs/rivers or aboveground rivers, or from a rocky crater filled with water, or from a melting glacier (ie Glacier Lake).
