A movie "The Abduction Club" came out in 2001/ 2002 in Europe and Australia. I want to see it, but I live in the USA, and the DVDs all have regional codes, so even if I bought one and had it shipped from abroad, it would not play here. Does anyone know how I could see this movie (without crossing an ocean)?

Region-free DVD players are more readily available than you think, if you know where to look--many inexpensive "no-name" DVD players can be "hacked" with a few presses of the button to make them region-free (http://www.videohelp.com/dvdhacks ), and usually those same DVD players will convert PAL to NTSC to play DVD's from Europe and other PAL-standard countries.

My personal recommendation is the Philips DVP-642, which costs about $60-70 at many chain department/electronics stores. Not only can it be made region-free and convert PAL to NTSC, but it also plays DivX files, which is the file format most downloadable movies on the net are found in.

Sometimes you just cant do it. I have been trying to get a copy of "The Search for John Gissing" for what seems like forever. Ironically I have to watch movies I don't want to if they get nominated but I cant find some i would give almost anything to see. If you figure it out please let me know too. And really good luck. :-)
