I don't think you can without help from a doctor. But you can stay away from medications containing aspirin. Aspirin causes people to bleed heavier.

I don't know of another way to lighten it other than birth control. I actually had to start taking the pill when I was about 14 becuase of painful periods. I know a lot of women who take it for medical reasons.
Other than that, I would suggest exercising, I think it speeds things up and gets it over faster.
If you are going through more than one pad or tampon an hour, talk to your Dr. She will be able to help you. The good news is that periods become easier to manage as you get older. Good Luck!
PS if it is very heavy, try using a tampon and a pad to avoid an accident

If I could find a way to control my period, I think I'd be rich from all the women wanting to buy my idea! There's not much you can do. If you're having really heavy days, though, you should go to the doctor. At your age you shouldn't be having really heavy ones. Remember, though, you've got lots of women out here who know how you feel and sympathize!

Sorry hun, but it is the way it is. Mine used to be really heavy when I was younger, and now they've totally lightened up and become much more bearable, especially since I had a baby. So don't worry yours may change in a few years... and plus you're not done going through puberty yet so there's hope. Just find pads/tampons that work best for you. Good luck!

you should speak to your doctor and make sure that everything is alright. At your age you should not have heavy bleeding. Do not take asprin as that is a blood thinner and you would have a heavier flow than you do now. Seek your doctors help. he is the best one to rule out that there is nothing else causing such heavy bleeding for your age. Good luck.

There's no real way of making it lighter--but there is a way of making it go away faster--however at 12, consult w/your mother on taking aspirin, you might be allergic, but take one aspirin of 100mg or more every morning along with your MIDOL, and your period will flow faster, and be gone sooner.

You are just going to to have to deal with this, and yes birth control might help. TALK to your mom she might understand. She was your age at one time too.
