I actually think that I read something about them not changing the price for the 360 at all during christmas. As far as I know, they are still losing money for every unit sold, although I'm not entirely certain on that.

But the thing to think about is they are releasing Halo 3 very near if not on the ps3 release date, so that will help them sell more units anyway. You should also realize that the 360 is still $200 cheaper than the ps3 so lowering the price won't have that much of an effect, and obviously there is no way that they would be able to compete with the Wii price.

This is taken directly from an article at IGN.com discussing what may happen for the 360 this Christmas, here is the link... http://gear.ign.com/articles/723/723547p1.html "...what many have been waiting for is a price-drop or some other value-adding addition. Microsoft has been repeatedly vocal that it does not perceive a need to drop the 360's retail price, and it appears as though it may indeed not do so this winter."

I think they will take the price down so they can sell more units. Now take into the fact that Halo 3 is coming out when the PS3 does... so XBOX is gonna want to out sell PS3 this coming Christmas. So my best guess is that the price might go down some... but they have some help with Halo 3 coming out and that will bring more people to buy a 360... I know I am going to buy a 360 just for Halo 3.
I don't know if that gives you any ideas to what the future holds for the 360 and its price this coming christmas.

If history repeats itself, which I am sure that it will, we should expect to see a decrease in the price, especially before Christmas. I personally believe that we should be seeing a decrease of $50 sometime during November.

In response to the post above, Bungie studios has rejected Microsoft's proposal to release Halo 3 on the day of the PS3 release. They said that they will release the game when the game is done, no sooner.

by the way, I personally believe that the Halo series is the most over hyped thing in the gaming world. Sure its a fun game, no doubt about that, but the game did not add any thing extraordinarily new to games.

Bill gates has said that on the day the ps3 hits the market the price for the x-box 360 will drop. As to how much the price will drop is still to be determined. I myself am getting the new ps3, i can't wait for it to drop.
