I bought a couple shirts thinking they would fit me because I normally wear a XL rather than a L. I need to find out if I can make the shirts fit better. If anyone has any other suggestions besides washing and drying, please let me know.

I have been doing laundry for about 45 years (probably before the invention of polyester), and I have never known polyester to shrink.

http://www.wikihow.com/Shrink-Polyester according to this site it can shrink using these 8 step instructions.
Please let me know if this works.. I think I'm going to have the same problem once my swimming suit arrives.. I don't know what's worse, a swim suite too tight, or one that is too loose. Of course, according to the typical men's opinion (my Fiance) there is no such thing as too tight lol

Take a needle and thread to the area that is the armpits down to each side seam at the bottom. It is not hard, just mark the area with chalk and watch 2 or 3 of your favorite shows to pass the stiching time. Hope that made sense, I'm too sleepy.

Not usually no.
It can at very high temperatures but not on a normal or even boil wash.

It doesn't shrink, it's synthetic. If you really like the shirts have a seamstress re size them.

pretty sure my pants shrunk in the dryer, they are tighter than before. I don't put anything that goes around my waste in the dryer, but my wife fails sometimes...
