My fathers PC is infected with a spyware (forgot what it's called) Scanned with the spyware from Yahoo toolbar but the same spyware is still on the PC using Windows IE (he doesn't want to use anything else, stubborn). Zango was detected and removed tho. He also has Norton AV and NoAdware installed, do they "work" automatically in the background i.e. scan and remove without running manually? Thanks.

Here is what I use.
Keep or disable Norton anti virus or do not use AVG. just don't use 2 anti-virus at the same time.
I prefer AVG as it works better than ALL the rest and it's free.

I use all of the following Free software with Windows XP SP2 and Internet Explorer with MSN toolbar and the pop-up blocker turned on and have never had a single problem with my computer sense Microsoft came out with SP2. (knock on wood.) (And be sure to keep Windows and the following software Updated)

The best Anti-virus is: AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition. (www.grisoft.com)http://www.grisoft.com/doc/289/lng/us/tpl/tpl01

The Best Spyware defense is: SpyBot Search and Destroy (http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index.html)<--English version

AND: AdAware SE (www.lavasoft.com)
AND Spyware Blaster (http://www.javacoolsoftware.info/kb/)
The best Firewall besides the one that comes with Windows is: Zone Alarm (http://www.zonelabs.com/store/content/co... or just (www.zonelabs.com) and select the FREE version.

These are all FREE and are all that are required. There is no reason to pay for this kind of software, except to give a donation to the writers if you can.
ALL the above programs are recommended and should be run on a regular basis. With some the free versions they must be run manually.

The best way to avoid getting any Malware (virus, Trojan's, spyware, etc) is to practice safe computing. Microsoft and many others have countless articles on the subject of safe computing. (something I think should be taught in schools)

Download 'Avast 4 Home Edition' and that will take care of all your problems, then- run it. Instructions will let you know what to do. Then get Zonealarm and put it in you computer if there is a virus in email or program your computer will not allow it to continue to invade. These are both free programs, but they both have upgrades which can be purchased. My computer company suggested that I remove some of the protection from my computer when the trial period was up. Give it a try, what have you got to loose except a virus you don't want. good luck.

> MSN Toolbar, includes Pop-up blocker, Phishing filter - FREE:

> Use Windows Update to make sure you have the latest security updates: http://www.windowsupdate.com

> You can download the latest version of Internet Explorer, it's the new version, fast, clean and secure:

I would get ewido spyware. It will detect and remove spyware from your PC. It also offers constant protection to your PC, and will automatically tell you if you get infected with spyware, and it will delete it.

It is free and availible at http://www.grisoft.com/doc/Programs/lng/us/tpl/tpl01?prd=triews

It says it is only a trial, which is true, but that only means that some "Premium Updates" are not included with the package.

Sounds like you have all the spyware you need. The problem is, every second you are online, someone, somewhere is trying to get into your computer. You can run your spyware, go online, and in a very short time, they're baaaaaaack.

I know of nothing that completely eliminate them. With that said, I'm assuming you have your WindowsXP firewall on.

No single anti-secret agent ware utility is proper so i decide directly to propose utilising advert-conscious and Spybot (they're unfastened). different unfastened anti-secret agent ware courses could be AVG Anti-secret agent ware (formally Ewido), super Anti-secret agent ware and SpywareBlaster. I strongly propose utilising FireFox, that's a miles greater proper and safer decision to cyber web Explorer. in case you upload-on McAfee SiteAdvisor, it somewhat is going to offer you with a warning of probably risky web content. I additionally propose CCleaner that's a unfastened gadget optimization and privateness gadget. Webroot secret agent Sweeper is rated because of the fact the main suitable, even nevertheless it is not unfastened (see the buyer seek source). working those courses in risk-free Mode (faucet F8 after powering on the pc and choose as nicely to risk-free Mode) would be greater helpful.
