Dry Hand Lotion
Ingredients:
8 oz. unscented lotion (many sellers of natural products and aromatherapy products sell unscented lotion, shower gel and shampoo)
10 drops Patchouli
20 drops Sandalwood
5 drops Carrot Seed
Directions: The best way to blend the oils with the lotion is to pour the lotion into a bowl, add the oils and then mix very well. Once mixed, add the lotion back to the bottle. Patchouli, sandalwood and carrot seed oils help aid with dry skin. The patchouli and sandalwood oils have a lovely rich scent when blended together. The carrot seed oil is wonderful for the skin, but is a little harsh in aroma.

When making a dilution with a base material and essential oil, you need to do some math. Let's say that you want the essential oils to be 2% of the finished product. If you have 4 ounces of lotion, you will need to add 48 drops of essential oil. (20 drops = 1 ml and 30 mls=1 ounce. 4 ounces of lotion= 2400 drops of lotion, 2400 x 2%=48)
Usually the % formula is used the therapeutic blends. If you are adding essential oil just for the scent, you can just add and shake untill you are happy with the scent.

All you basically have to do is find an essential oil which you like in the health food store or in the health section of a supermarket or drug store and mix it into the lotion base. You can pick out the oil based on scent or on what it is supposed to do, energize or relax muscles for example. You generally only need to mix in a few drops at a time until you get the strength and scent you want. Most of the oils will have the common usages on the bottle. Have a good night.
