there is a risk to everything on the internet. as long as she doesn't give out any personal information, like her address and full name, she doesn't have to worry.

Ok. I use MySpace daily and I've been keeping up with this sh*t in the news about teenage girls getting picked up by guys on myspace. It is my opinion that it is usually the girl's fault because alot of them 1) Break the rules by lying about their age and 2) talk to these guys who message them instead of ignoring them. If you have the audacity to lie about your age then you should face the consequences when you get in trouble. I know you are worried about your friend and that's great that you care enough about her to be worried. But your friend needs to be the responsible one and not talk to people online that she doesn't know. I know all the people on my Myspace friends list. Adding people you don't know is superficial unless you're an ADULT looking for someone to date. Teenagers shouldn't be using the internet to meet people and quite frankly, neither should adults but that's the thing...when you're grown you can make your own mistakes, but when you're a teenager...your parents are often held responsible legally for the things you do wrong. If you're really genuinely concerned about your girl friend...tell her to stop talking to people she doesn't know.

Okay, there is nothing wrong with Myspace. As long as you use it responsibly, you shouldn't be in any danger. However, giving out personal information is always a bad idea. So just don't. And all you can do is keep telling your friend this. You can't force her to do anything.

There is always a risk of meeting someone and they being a sex offender or criminal. Anyone you meet online, you don't know, and they could be anyone. If your friend is giving out personal information to these men, who could be of a questionable age,you should talk to her about it and then tell her that you threaten to tell, because it isn't safe for a child to be doing that. Also she could encounter problems if she is lying about her age, which she shouldn't do.
Myspace is prowling with sex offenders masquerading as children, teenage boys, and if yet, younger men (21-25ish). All you can warn her of the dangers. You can watch out for things like:
1.Older men taking a "genuine" interest in your day, your life style
2.An older man telling you that he feels connected with you,in a way he doesnt with women his own age, this would be a big clue. There would be a reason for it,because he doesnt want them!
3.They ask for numbers to get in contact with you,"you know chat"
Sex offenders thrive on how familiar they are with their victim, they befriend them first,or get their trust.look up websites, print out info show your friend.you can also go to your state website,to show her how many sex offenders live in your state,or any other.

Dateline NBC had an undercover project where they (with the help of law enforcement) and it lured hundreds of perverts to a supposed young girls house, all through "myspace.com". and there were a couple of sex offenders that thankfully got caught. Find other places to talk to your friends and like the other member mentioned, DO NOT give any personal information or tell them where they can meet you.

Again, like the first guy said, as long as you don't give out any personal info, you're fine. Also, they can't hurt you if you don't meet them.
I know a lot of police forces across the world are staging fake set ups to get these bastards. Hopefully these sick people'll get the point.

Myspace is safe as can be. It the victim's fault. They decide to talk to them and also wanted to meet them in real life. Their negligence against their own safety cause it, not Myspace. Stupid people complain about their mistakes.

i think that his acquaintances already know by using fact his MySpace is a public profile. in case you have faith they don't know he's a intercourse criminal then i would not digital mail them to state this certainty yet deliver them a link to his website with the message "did you recognize this approximately Bob Jones". or you need to be up for libel or slander.

myspace was meant to be a social network, but it can also be a place for child predators
I think you would be doing the right thing to tell your friends parents (and yours) about these men asap
Your friend could end up in trouble

you never know who is online anymore. they could say they are 16 but really be 61 and perverted. i learned the hard way. just be careful, don't give personal info and don't say you will meet them somewhere no matter what they say.
