name of a bolt that will screw into itself? (one end male side the other end female thread) the heads are same

we are trying to attach a gunnel to my sons new wodden boat, using oak strip on both sides of the plywood top edge to make the gunnel about 2" wide would like both sides to look alike. what I am trying to find is a bolt that will thred into itself with a hex head on either end, or something simmler.

it's called a gunstock bolt and is available at Jamestown Distributors, a wonderful source of wooden boat stuff

Jailhouse or sex bolt, those are slang terms for them. I don't know the proper term for them.
