The list is long. For starters:
No private property
Economic decline.
Environmental disasters.
Unsure election laws.
Communism thus far has a 0% success rate. Even China had to change its consitution to allow private property to foster its current growth. The only remaining real communisms are North Korea and Cuba, but they're really just dictatorships in disguise.

No it is not better. Communism is oppressive of anybody that doesn't believe the communist line. There is no freedom of speech or religion. You do not have a vote, because there is only the dictator. There is no private property. If the state or a person in the Communist Party wants something you have they can take it. In China they make you have an abortion if you already have a child and are going to have another. They run the press, because you can't speak out against the government. Everybody has an equal income unless you are leader in the government or party. Even if you are more talented or do more work you get paid the same. They make you have the job they want you to have and you can not quit.

The negative fact of communism is the definition of communism itself: NOTHING belongs to you. Your car is not yours. Nor your computer. Or your house. Or your table and chairs. Or your TV, or your back patio. It all belongs to the government.
If the "government" decides it is the best interests of "the people," they they can take whatever you thought you owned.
Whenever you have a government, you are talking about individuals. Individuals inevitably disagree on certain things. But someONE is in charge of the government, whether they call themselves a president, a prime minister, or whatever. But by having ONE person decide what is in the best interests of everyone is really nothing more than a dictatorship.
You may say, "Well, this sounds a little like America." Far from it. We have a very few cases of seizures of terror suspects and their property for questioning, but in America, it is illegal for someone to simply take my car, my house, or my computer and say "This is the property of the government, and we need it back now. Sorry. No, you can't even file a lawsuit trying to get it back; you have absolutely no grounds to do so. It was never yours." That can happen in communism.

If we are talking about the theory Marx and Lennon put down. The big problem is that they took it for granted that factories will produce, that farms will grow crops, that innovation will happen.
I promise you none of that just hap pends.
If you are talking about what was called communism in the USSR block and China etc during the cold war. That was not even close to going on the road to Communism. It was a bunch of political bruits seizing power and telling a bunch of lies to the people that were suppose to replace progress. The people of most of these countries knew better and this "Communism" eventually broke down and the countries decided to try freedom and liberty. Accidentally equality of opportunity also flourished.
If it was better, then how come we did not need to build a wall to keep the West Berliners from moving to the east? How come one tenth of Cuba left during the time of Fidel Castro? And I assure you there are no South Koreans that want to move to North Korea.

I was thinking today about how all children I know say at some point that there should be no money and everyone should share everything. This made me wonder if communism is the natural state of things.
Communism has typically been practiced with totalitarianism, and let's face it, bread doesn't taste as good when you can't break it with your neighbor 'cause you're afraid they'll spy on you. On the other hand, when you've got no bread, you're too tired and focused on survival to exercise your free speech.
We've tried to split the natural rights of humans, separating out the rights to live upon this earth, to have a place to live, something to eat, and clean water to drink, like all animals born here have from the rights to express yourself and live as you choose. These rights should go together.
Now, the USA has worked mightily to make Castro's Cuba fail. Why? Well, perhaps now that we see Cuba has the highest standard of living in the carribean, the best medical care in latin america, and the highest literacy rate in latin america, one has to wonder what our govt was trying to hide from us. And why they picked on poor little Cuba. Certainly we couldn't have preferred the evil dictator the cubans suffered with before Castro.
Communism is, in theory, preferable to capitalism for this reason - in capitalism, we allow people to steal the labor of others, live far better off the labor of others than the laborers can live. In fact, we pretend it's okay for a laborer to enrich someone while the laborer remains impoverished. It's morally reprehensible and unsustainable.

Communism is negative in that it relys on the benvolence of a dictator and it goes against human nature.
Is communism better? Yes. I believe the problem is humanity is not mature enough to live in a society based on the good of the community. One day we will understand ourselves enough to manipulate human nature to work with communism.
I believe that Capitalism works for now but Communism will work in the future as Monarchies used to to work in the past.
Hopefully humanity will make it towards that future.

the idea of communism is equality. doctors being treated the same as a waiter. everything belongs to everyone. there is no "private" property in that sense. Sure your life is still yours to live but you cannot claim things. There are no corporations to run things. istead there is a government that runs the country for better or worst. this doesnt mean communism is evil or bad. it all depends on how your life is before you have a communist gov't. for instance in america it would never work. we love $$$$$. in cuba where just about everyone is poor. it is a god send. its up to you to decide you you want to live.

In communism the goverment creates a system in which every citizen is on the same financial level as everyone else. The problem being, no matter how hard you work your never are going to climb up any coorperate ladders. Their economy generally doesnt grow and arent seen as a great sorce for trade.

I believe it is a highly advanced system, in which productivity becomes so high to be able to support everyone. It is the next stage of government system, no unemployment, no starving children, everyone's equal, no countries or any states...one for all, all for one. But sadly, it is utopian, because everyone has their own greed and this perfect system gives these greedy people a chance to slack off and not doing anything at all.
