Bobby McFerrin wrote it. Bob Marley died over 10 years before Don't Worry, Be Happy was written.

It didn't come out in the 60's cuz Bobby McFerrin didn't write it till the 80's. It is an original by him. Written and sang!

the song is by jazz composer Bobby McFerrin, and came out in summer of Although there is a common misconception is that the song was written by Bob Marley, even though he had died almost a decade prior to its release (which is false)

I believe the most popular version was done by Bobby McFerrin; I'm not sure it was a cover, though--he may have been the original.
