They like the attention it gets them. They can't be famous, so pretending to be is the closest they can get.

Because so many people want to be famous rather than easily lost in the crowd....I have never had that problem myself!

You get the adulation and status accorded to celebrities and if your lucky and really good you get paid well and lots of free stuff. Similar to what celebrities get.

because they are impersonating someone that other dumb people think they like. Kind of like, why do so many people steal money? To get money, which they obviously don't have.
