Do you have the list of foods that trigger migraines? Some of these foods might not seem to affect you, but if you mix them with each other, you can get a real whammy. Also, you don't necessarily get the migraine right away - it could be with in a couple of days of when you eat this stuff.
-- Don't eat : any onions; bananas, red plums, beans (string beans are ok), AGED cheese like cheddar, etc ( cottage or cream cheese is ok), anything made with a culture - like blue cheese, swiss cheese, buttermilk; processed meats that have Sodium Nitrite or Sodium Nitrate in them for preservatives, chocolate, alcohol especially red wine, caffiene, and Monosodium Glutamate. Strictly avoiding all those things, AND having a few minutes of quiet time every few hours should help some.
Also, pinch one of your big toes with one fingernail on the fleshiest part and one finger on the toenail. Sounds nuts, but it helps some.

Hi. I get them too. I am also on meds. but I try not to use them. A nap usually works. If you put an ice pack on the part that hurts that can work as well. Get the flexible ice pack because as you probably know the migraine can be at more then one place. The big thing is to relax. The best thing to do is the nap or to just lay down your room with all lights and TV off. Sound and lights are the worst when dealing with this horrible migraine. Also caffeine and sugar is no good. I noticed that it brings on the headache. I know it sucks that you cant have coffee or chocolate as much but at least you will be pain free! I gave you a source hope it helps. Hope that kinda helps.

Zanaflex probably won't help your migraine, but you might care less about it. It's a muscle relaxer. You need to be taking a triptan if you have true migraines and you're a candidate. See your doctor. There's been a lot of advances with migraines over the last 5-10 years and there are a *lot* of effective medications.

I've had migraines since my earliest memories. Used to be that nothing helped; now it's only a minor inconvenience.

There is really nothing you can do for migraines. Medicine doesn't help much for most people. The only real cure is that when you feel a migraine coming on try to go to sleep as fast as possible. Sleep is the best thing. Other than that you could try some pain medicine like maybe advil for migraines, but it won't do much. Maybe a change in diet and lifestyle would help. Cut out trigger foods like chocolate, alcohol and so on. Hope this helps and good luck!

My mother-in-law gets super SEVERE migraine headaches on occasion, and just by chance, she was taking Paxel. One of the side effects was releiving the migraine headache. I wonder why this is not known to other people.

Uggh, migraines ruin my life. I don't have any medicines/herbs to suggest, but what I do when I get a migraine is make sure I'm lying in bed with my eyes closed and maybe something covering my eyes since they are so sensitive to light. I understand that this isn't very practical, since people go to school and work, but when I'm home, that's what I do.

when i get migraines I usually go to bed really early and just pray that when i wake up the next day it'll be over. For headaches I am usually very stubborn about taking aspirin just because; i usually ride them out and go to bed earlier than usual.

i try to catch them early and find a quiet, dark place to lay down. i start with an otc migraine reliever and move on to imitrex. drinking lots of water sometimes helps with the vomiting.
