Nearly every home has at least one television, and surely nearly everyone watches it at least sometimes. (At least this is true for much of the world, but certainly not all.)

This vegetative state while being dependent on that machine seems to be a common experience; so, what's the cause for creating a fuss over it?

As far as I know there isn't a fuss over watching TV. The fuss is about what is being watched and for how long!

Being in a tv veg state is nothing like being in a veg state health wise. People can break away from tv and interact with others at will..a person thats in a vegetative state because of a health reason don't have that luxury...Families have to deal with the heartache and loss of a loved one if that machine is turned off, no more hope that the person might wake up. If we turn off the tv the only thing that would really happen is that the person watching the tv will get up and actually do something creative.

I'm not sure I get the question. Are u saying the T.V. is the machine which one is dependent on? It is a waste of time and mostly useless except for entertainment.

Is a patient in a vegetative state dependent on life support
something to create a fuss? It is. It is expensive and drains the family's assets, home, car, etc. after the insurance runs out. Also you cannot be certain whether or not the patient is sufferring--that is the main concern.

TV and a vegetative Machine does not seem like the same thing at all to me. TV is called couch potato, Vegetative state means a Living Will.We seen that with Terrie Shcivoes case.

Wht does that have anything to do wth anything? Watching TV is a "vegitative" state? Maybe figuratively, but I think you're taking this too seriously.

Like most people on Yahoo! Answers, I think you have too much time on your hands.

the fuss was over who got to choose whether she lived or died.
Parents wanted her to live, husband wanted her to die.

That is why you should have a living will that says what you want.

It's unnatural to keep a person alive that way.
