do this while it is cold,,get a spray bottle and put some kerosene in it,,and spray the whole engine,,and engine compartment down with it,,let it set for about an hour,,then get good water hose, and wash it of really good,,this will clean it up really good,,and don't worry kerosene wont burn on a motor,,i own a repair shop,,and i clean all the ones i work on so i don't get so dirty,,this is the best way i have found to do it,,i use a pressure washer to rinse them off with,,it has more power than a regular hose,,after that you an use some soapy water and spray it on it,,and this will rinse any left over residue off of it,,i hope this help,s,,good luck with it.

Get some Engine cleaner from and automotive section. I suggest two or three cans. Spray the entire engine and let site, then spray it off with a hose. Make sure you let the engine dry over-night before you start it.

I use gas and a sprayer to clean my engines. the sprayer can get to places I can't and the coin wash can't . if you use this, do not start it for about 15 minutes because there e is a fire hazard. you will find the grease and oil will come off easily but there is a clean up problem so be ready to do work
