Mr. Been there , scares me because he has a point. I've never seen such divisiveness in my 63 yrs. The Republicans seem to hate any body who doesn't agree with them. Just check out Rush Limbough for a minute, if you can stand him. His ridicule of any body he doesn't agree with is mean spirited and down right hatefull. Then you have a nit wit in Washington who Say's " Bring it." He couldn't even make his draft dodging air nat. guard meetings. Our elections are not about the issues anymore. Our elections have become attack campaigns and mud slinging and out right lies. How can a nation survive when the leaders are all about hate and not whats right for the union? So it becomes a 'I got mine and you can't have any nation! " So the have nots are going to reach a point where they have nothing to loose. It's happening all over the world right now. This nation has survived because everyone had the perception of a chance for a good life for there family's, but that perception is fading because of Republican greed. It used to be the father went to work and the mother stayed home with the children. Not any more. Now the mother has to work also just to keep afloat. So what do the kids do when both parents are at work? Well hopefully they will stay out of trouble. This nation is becoming so obsest with greed it won't last another fifty yrs. I hope I'm wrong, but something has to change SOON.

Of course no democratic nation has ever really lasted as long as we have, But in general since we are still the most powerful nation, we are far from going away.
And being hated has nothing to do with how long a nation lasts.
And all the conspiracies were always there, internet just lets nut cases make thiers world wide known.

In my opinion,You never know the Empire that emerges is China and she can be the most powerful Nation on Earth also.Do not underestimate China and when I go buying stuffs and the products in stores all made in China and not U.S.A. Well, now we have jobs lost and we allow foreigners to come such as H1B visa 200,000 visa last year and several jobs outsourcing to the developing countries in order for the corperations to cut cost. Now the jobs in Silicon valley are very few left and people has to change their life style. We borrowing money from outside the U.S. in order to generate our business. We also rely on the Middle East country who invests $700 trillion in the American financial industry.Well tell me our national debt is growing bigger every day and who is paying for when you and me are not alive. Our poor generation is going to pay the price.People in this country live on pay check to pay check. Some of them owe credit cards and do not pay in full. How can we all make it? if the trend of spending through the roof with our life style that people can not pay for.By the way,I did not mention about education and Health care.45 million of the American population do not have health care.Oh,the working poor can not get minimum wages raise and how can we save our people? what about 12 million illegal that already here and collect the American benefits and some of them do not pay taxes. Most of money they earned had been sent to Mexico and others.Money talks and now where is our money? I try to think and use my commonsense to evaluate the power of my country when we do not have Money in the future.

America became Strong when it practiced the "melting pot" theory of accepting people from all races, creeds, religions and activities and making them Americans. We accepted the ill-mannered, crude, poorly educated, and lowly people, then we gave them the opportunity to be what they could be, and out of that mess of people the world's greatest country evolved.
Lately a divisive movement has begun to take place and today it is growing stronger and stronger; the separation of people by race. creed and political bent. Today America has: Greek-Americans, French-Americans, African-Americans, Christian-Americans, Muslim-Americans, on and on and on.
As soon as America is firmly divided into these separate sections and beliefs, that's when America will splinter and slowly ( or violently ) dissolve into little bits of nothing. It may happen without a fight or it may happen in a gigantic explosion,...but it will happen.

We won't dissolve. We are the richest, most powerful nation on the planet. If we don't like someone, we just invade them. And if invading doesn't work, we can just bomb the hell out of them. Countries may not like us, but they have to live with us. Their economies are dependent on our economy.
So what if the rest of the world hates us. What can they do? They can complain to us and to the UN. But that won't work because our President only listens to God (or Dick Cheney).

There were 2 main problems--the rise of the Christian right and the deregulation of the broadcasting industry. I am fine with churches doing politics as long as they then give up the tax exemption they get for being NON political. If they want to be political institutions they should pay taxes like the rest of us do. So they turned their voters out for bush. And the broadcasting industry, owned now by only 5 or 6 companies, slants all the news and commentary in coverage of the Republicans. GE owns NBC and MSNBC, its conservative. So is Fox, which is Fox, Fox News, FX and lots of sports channels. Clear Channel owns like 2000 radio stations, the owner is a friend of bush, they do Limbaugh and Hannity and all the b.s. conservative shows, enflaming the right wingers and building their numbers with lies and fantasies. So they have an iron clad formula for winning. Even when they ruin the country they cannot be defeated. Which means the country is ruined. It will not come back from this.

What conspiracies? Get Real! Quite believing everything you read in the Main Stream Press. Unfortuanely, though, we are to hung up on "political correctness".
