You mean when you lose your SIM card?
It means it's time to get a new one and alert your mobile phone provider that you lost the old one!

Most cell phones have shared memory which means that essential software works even if the memory card is removed. The memory card (and lets assume its not the SIM card) serves the function of RAM in the computer generally. Without it your added ring tones, pictures, audio/video files, and games might not be available. The components like contacts, messaging features, and in built programs will continue working. What do you do is you buy a new memory card. It is always a good idea to get a USB cable for your data backup. Your computer can save data from your cell phone and when you get a new memory card you can get it back through USB or infrared, Blue-tooth also works but is rather slow. A word of caution: memory card should not be removed frequently from its slot.
