Probably because it's one of those huge V8 gas hogs, but since you did not even tell us what type of truck it is then I doubt we can answer you.

because its being pumped from the tank to the motor where a spark plug sparlks... thats why its burning gas

could be a fuel line leak ... can u smell gas when walking around it? a really clogged aircleaner could do it ... if you have a lockup type torque converter and it isnt functioning that could do it to ... and obviously if its running rough somthing needs to be adjusted or fixed.
