They can both dial up if you have 2 phone lines.
If both PC's have network cards, you can get a crossover cable and connect them, and do internet sharing. It's slow, though, because they are both sharing the dialup connection.

Connect only one of the computers to the phone line and connect a crossover cable between the two computers' Ethernet (Network) ports. Sign into your internet connection on the first computer then run the Network Setup Wizard on both computers with the first computer connecting directly to the internet and the second computer connecting through the first computer - this will set them up automatically for networking and internet connection sharing.
One word of caution though - dial-up connections will really bog down if both computers are downloading files at the same time.

If you have Windows XP on both computers it is easy to do. Any lesser Op system makes it a lot harder.Only thing you have to do is have the two computers connected and the networking working for you.
Of course the computer that is connected to the Internet must be on at all times and connected for the other computer to access it.

yes it can be done I done it once when I was in school by accident and later went back and figured it out.
just get a custom cable made for the com port that the modem is plugged into and from the plug that goes into a computer it has another wire that runs out to the other port of the computer.
if you are doing BBS around town you got to restart both computewrs at the same time and I guess the same would be about right for the internet too

No subject - get a X-crossed community cable for 10 greenbacks out of your pooter employer and connect the two pc. interior the community setup in simple terms follow the learning to establish a house community the place the 2nd pc makes use of the 1st one as gateway - takes approximately 5 min and you're set. it rather is all legal. don´t difficulty. Or get a low priced hub for 20 greenbacks and do an identical factor - yet be confident to apply wide-spread community cables and not x-crossed ones.

There's a way, but it would be VERY slow, if you can get DSL or cable internet, if those aren't available concider getting a satellite provider such as HughesNet. http://www.hughesnet.com/
If you still choose dial-up, then I highly suggest getting a seperate phone line from your company then just dial them in seperatly.
Hope this helps!
