I know that telling him how you feel and having him say he's always felt the same way would be the perfect fairy tale ending. However, I really think you should ease into this for your and his benefit. Call him up and invite him for lunch or coffe (4-5 days from the time your calling). On your date, I mean while you are out, ask him one or two personal questions like "So is there anyone you have your eye on ?". If he says" Why are you asking?" Smile and with your softest mot playful voice say :" In your...humble opinion, Why would a woman ask such a question?" If he looks shocked, gently push his arm say "oh relax" and laugh it off. When you part ways, gaze into his eyes for a few seconds, smile and say "Thanks for a good time and reach slowly for his cheek to give him a gentle kiss. Wait 5-9 days and invite him out to dance, roller skate or do something else that's physical. At the end of that you will thank him again and kiss him or the lips. At that point you'll know where you stand. I want to acknowledge you for being willing to break through the school of thought that says a female should never make the first move. This may not turn out the way you want, so I also acknowlege you for having the courage to go after what you want. I know what it's like to take a chance at having someone you feel so strongly about turn you down, but that pain is not nearly as strong as that of spending the rest of your life wondering what might have been. Thanks for posting your question and good luck!

Oh breezy! Just tell him. If you guys have been friends for this long I am sure he must have some idea of your feelings. Love after long friendships are the best. Tell him; the result may be something beautiful!

Tell him how you feel. You don't want to be one of those people who looks back on their life with a lot of regrets.

IF HE'S BEEN YOUR FRIEND FOR 17 YEARS THEN YOU CAN TELL HIM ANYTHING! THE OTHER SIDE OF TOWN SHOULD NOT MATTER AS LONG AS IT ISN'T ANOTHER CITY! GOOD LUCK!
