yea today we all hear about terrorist trying to use more and more airplanes as weaopns to kill innocent americans. but i was thinking since we already have terrorists in this country how can we stop them from going into public places and bloxwing themselves up and killin people. i mean for example a terrorist could go into a mall, hospital,movie theatre,baseball stadium etc. and how about car bombs being parked in public places like neighborhoods, crowded areas, etc. do you think this is goin to happen in the us sooner or later and do you think the us government is ready?

The government is not ready - and never can be.
As long as we have huge numbers of people coming together
or huge numbers of people use limited resources (like a reservoir),
we cannot be safe.
We could re-think our cities and transportation infrastructure
to perhaps lesson the number of people that any single incident
could kill - but you're never going to reduce that to zero.
We aren't safe now. We never were safe and we never will be.
However, we can work to eliminate the causes of terrorism
which will reduce (but not eliminate) the incidents.
Americans have lived in isolation for 200+ years. Welcome to
the rest of the world!

As to why they're not active here (you make the claim they are here and I feel the best avenue for these types is under the guise as students) is b/c they can't obtain the needed chemicals, explosives, detonators, etc, without calling attention to themselves. We place controls on those items for the safety of our citizens, but there will aways be a way to provide these items for them. Some methods, sadly, are via US citizens.
I'm fairly certain it will happen here sooner or later. I don't think it's possible for any gov't to ready it's ppl for such a thing. The best that can be hoped for is to limit or control the devastation.
The best method for stopping the perps - who ever they may be - is to not allow them to enter the country and establish themselves. Which is probably why we fight in the country we believe is theirs.

We can expect it to happen and we need to be strong enough to take the blow..physically and economically. We can't let that crap knock us and our economy on the butt.
And we have to to stop giving terrorists the media coverage they crave. They need an audience for their acts of horror to have any lasting resonance. Will the media accept the challenge and join us in the fight against terrorism ...or just continue to be a voyeur.

I think that Kermit M is correct. The terrorists crave media attention. So let's not give it to them. I think the media undoes any good that they do by emphasizing sensationalism.

they could do that but their choice is airplanes.a question was asked the other day on the news about why they only choose to use airplanes but no one really knows why.
