I agree that they are just colors, but black isnt only for "goths" and pink isnt only for "preps" anymore, "emo" kids have claimed these colors now.
I saw an "emo" kid online a while back, a guy, and in his info it said (in pink font)- "real men use pink font." He also wore make up.
It's stupid.

Could you honestly imagine the colors the other way around? That would just look funny, you can't be all goth and look like a piece of cotton candy. Just wouldn't look right would it?

Because Gothic people are weird and their dark and rejected from most of society and preps don't always wear pink

It's because people like to associate items, colors...etc with certain groups of people.
(This is only an example but people do associate these)
Example: Blacks-rap, sex, guns, jail, getto,ect
Example: Whites-Fake tans, money, airheads, ect

because black is associated with death and depressing things, pink is associated with nice, happy things like puppies.
