Don't put holes in your tongue, that's a good way to keep it from swelling and getting infected.

Ouch... I got that done about 6 years ago. It is painful! There really is not a way to stop swelling because you are removing a peice of your tongue and it needs to heal. When you are finished, your tongue will feel like it is taking up your whole mouth. Suck on a lot of ice cubes and keep drinking cold water. It goes away quickly! Expect to drool the second he peirces it. They will put a bib on you, but your mouth goes numb and drool comes out. Good luck!

You may want to rethink that decision for a few reasons. People who have gotten their tongue pierced usually regret it. It is constantly bugging them and there is room for infection due to the fact that the human mouth is so filthy. Don't follow stupid fads, especially ones that can harm you or prevent you from getting a job. Employers are not keen on all the tatoos and piercings. No one wants a freak show in their office.

don't get it pierced?

i know everyone's saying this, but dude, you're gonna be stuck with it... and the hole in your tongue would be way weird after a while.

keep it a smaller ring, at least. good luck! i'd rinse with listerine or another strong antibacterial-type mouthwash--you know, they kinds that burn like mad--and swish with salt water, also, once a week. avoid foods with a lot of grease or sugar to get in them, for the first few days or weeks. drink lots of clean, cold water.

hope it works out!
