Don't bid on something unless it's either really cheap, or the person has a large number of Postive Feedbacks.

If you are going to be a regular buyer, then get a PayPal account. It is just convenient.

But you can also talk to your Credit Card company about getting a USE ONCE credit card number. Your Credit card's website probably can do this instantly for you. It's FREE. This is also MUCH safer than PayPal. (PayPal is not a Federally Insured Bank).

Also consider these auction websites: (The seller does not pay a posting fee, so they are not going BROKE)

Be sure to check the seller's ratings - anything less than 99.something should raise a flag. Read the detail of the ratings if you're doubtful - sometimes slow shipping will result in a low rating from some previous buyers, even though the product was fine and they got it in maybe two weeks - then, unless you need the item quickly, don't worry about it.

If a seller has very little track record, I'd be reluctant to buy anything expensive from them. But if it's only a couple bucks, is probably worth the risk.

Paying through paypal is a better idea than giving someone your credit card number directly.

I have bought and sold on E-Bay. Use Pay-Pal, it is very safe. Never give out personal or bank information. If a deal looks too good to be true, it is. Read the seller's ratings before you bid.

I sell paintings on ebay and that i haven't had a difficulty. I surely have offered issues, too -- basically from people who've a ninety 9% or greater useful feedback score.. and people who take returns. it relatively is in many cases look after to apply paypal... and if a man or woman makes purchases with a credit card, and there's a controversy with the acquisition, the credit card business enterprise will in many cases step in, get their a reimbursement and credit you... yet i haven't heard of that occuring in many cases... And a man or woman can use their credit card throught Paypal whilst making Ebay purchases. possibly your father basically does not decide for to be bothered gaining information of roughly Ebay and how it works.. which could be it, in a nutshell. take care.

I have bought a number of things from E-bay. All my experiences were positive. If you have a larger item, make sure you have some safe guards in place. Happy shopping.

Paypal is not 100% safe. Someone in Italy got a hold of my Paypal account and racked up a $1500 Ebay purchase on my Visa card. It's been over a week and I haven't heard anything about the investigation from Paypal! It's harder to cancel your account with them than it is for someone to hack into their site and get your info! BEWARE!

Most of the time it is. Make sure you check their feedback. You want to see as close to 100% positive. Also, make sure you read all the fine print (if they will take back returns and anything else that you may want to watch out for). Make sure they aren't going to rip you off on shipping and handleing too. If you are buying something that can expire....check dates.

Check feedback and be sure they take Paypal if that's what you're using. Also, double check the shipping and handling charges---that's where some sellers will screw you over.

I love EBay I always check there when shopping for something specific. Good luck!

I have had good luck with it, just make sure they have a money back guarantee. Don't buy anything that seems to good to be true like Versace pants for $19, it is not real!!
