I have just heard this quite a bit recently and was wondering what a bass line actually was.
I think I have a very faint idea, and if you could tell me, please do. Thanks very much.

The bass part is the low sound in a song. A bass line is the pattern of notes that is being played in that song by a low instrument i.e. bass guitar or synthesizer.

Bass lines are what the Bass Guitar plays correct. Bass lines are considered an integral part of the rhythm because they complement the Drums in keeping the "feel" of the song. Otherwise it would just be a meandering beat.

A bass line is a 2-4 bar, maybe a little more that is played alot or is a crazy bit. If you know what a guitar riff is then you know what a bass line is.

It is either a line used to catch bass, or the lines on a sheet of music where the bass music is written.
