That's a very good question, because seemingly it makes no sense at all. It even sounds more strange when you think about how the U.S. provided weapons to Osama Bin Laden to fight against the U.S.S.R's invasion of Afghanistan. There are deeper spiritual truths behind this, but the main reason is that the terrorists believe that there should be no freedom, and the U.S. represents freedom. They have been brainwashed and blinded to reason by hatred, and see a Utopian Islamic society where Islamic clerics rule. Be careful of hate, it blinds you. You can be totally right, but hate will make you wrong. Remember that Hollywood, and Las Vegas are in the U.S. and they see this as very evil, the gambling, and depiction of scantily dressed women etc. They hate Jews, and New York City has many Jews (just a fact no slur against Jews). They hate the Jews because they believe Jews are inferior, and unjustly took thier holy land from them. They want to kill all the Jews, and all Infidels. They want to kill you and me, and they really are going to try hard to do that, it's not an empty threat, and it's not a threat I take lightly at all.

i think there are several things connected in this. Firstly, US being a superpower, concerns too much about other countries' affairs. UN should be the one who should be handling these issues, not the US. Secondly, the al-qaeda dudes are simply insane. I think US could have avoided the intensity of hatred against them but the people like Bush are smart in a dumb way. He will have protection all his life but the innocent citizens don't. So the citizens always pay the undeserved price. In conclusion, I blame both the al-qaeda and the US policy.

The american government talks one thing and does another. It still makes me sad that we (america) turn our backs on so much in the world .We were attacked to be reminded that we can't just sit back and let all the injustices of the world go on. Alot of countries are resentful of the american position on issues. Sadam Hussein didn't start torturing people after 9/11, he had been doing it for decades but it took 9/11 for america to take him out of power. I can't wait for america to take some real action against bad governments. Until they do we will be considered terorists with blind eyes.

Terrorists only purpose is to cause death to non-believers of their views. And what better way to attempt to spread fear than by attacking the country that represents living life to it's fullest. But they will always fail. In the end, good beats evil every time.

There is no point in speculating anymore, because we don't have all the facts.

Terrorists attacks were fed to Americans for at least thirty years.

The massive ones on Sept. 11, 2001 seem extraordinary and may not be part of the same chain link as all others.

Without knowing all about these attacks, we can't form conclusions and must keep 911 as an unexplainable event.

What if we're not really as fair, or nice to others in the world as we think we are....or our polititions and news coverage tells us we are?
What if our world wide multinational companies use and abuse people and their resources in other and 3rd world countries?
WHY....are we NOT WELL LIKED abroad?
Why do we let our leaders jump in and take total control for themselves without consulting or letting the United Nations (who's job this is) decide whats right for ALL and not just what's good for the U.S.A.!

They attacked America because they hate freedom and democracy. They hate the American way of life. They hate how we are happy and proud to live in the country we do and say that we are American. They also hate the nation we have built up, from New York City to Hawaii. But most of all the hate our power and opinon. That power has been earned, because other countires see what we have built up and want to listen to what we have to say. Many people hated the Queen's Empire of England in the 1800's. That's now down to a tiny island who still has alot of say but the tourch as been passed to us. But it doesn't matter because those people still have freedom and are proud of there flag and country. One day that will be us.

They want to destroy that and put fear in our eyes. But that's impossible. No matter how many of our planes they blow up or cities they destroy, they can't destroy our freedom.

I believe in psychology the phrase is "it is a cry for help". In a wierd way the Al qaeda has drawn world attention to the plight of the muslim ignoramuses and their dangerous ideaologies of hatred and destruction. But they do have some of the most stunning looking women.

because for far too long the united states has been sticking it's nose where it does not belong...this country has made everyone Else's business and fight it's own...the American population as a whole are the laziest fattest and most ignorant people in the world...in a sense you could say we deserved it...the world would love to do away with the American people...if you think about it the Mexicans are the only people who have had any success in invading this country...they are taking over and we are letting them...this country needs to check itself before god forbid something more terrible then 9/11 happens

Because they needed somebody to focus their hatred on. The US is a superpower with its finger in everything, and it makes an easy target to rally potential recruits against. It is easy to convince young boys to hate America, even if the hatred is baseless.
