Try the venetian. Every now and then they run promotions, which could save you alot of money. My wife is a suite reservation agent, she's always telling me of promotions. Hope this helps.

The Rio is a great place to stay and alot of fun...so is the casino/hotel next door called The Orleans (this one is a preferred one if you enjoy Cajun food and they have Mardi Gras parades in the casinot to boot complete with beads although flashing is not required there). If you are looking for a place on the strip so you don't have to drive over I-15 then I would suggest The Frontier....it's a bit down the strip but have been staring there almost exlusively for the last 15 years. The rooms are decent, the casino smaller but nice, GREAT Mexican food @ Margarita's Cafe and close enough to walk up the strip to the more popular casinos....oh ya, the price has always been one of the more reasonable on the strip. Good luck and have fun!

The less expensive hotels are downtown/Fremont Street. There, the Plaza, Fitzgerald's, 4 Queens are all decent but lower-priced. (The person who went on and on about the Lady Luck isn't aware it's been closed all year for renovations.) On the Strip, low prices mean a shabby hotel, but for something moderate I'd recommend Tropicana or Stratosphere. The Monte Carlo or the Orleans might be good, too. The Riviera and Stardust are depressingly rundown - avoid them.

When I went for the first time in 1997, we stayed downtown at the Lady Luck. Downtown was nice, because it wasn't too crowded, and there was a show every night outside (The Fremont Street Experience, I think it was called). The Lady Luck was very inexpensive, and I did not think it was a dive at all. At the time, I think they were running a special for $20 a night. We went back 3 years ago and stayed at the Orleans. It was much more expensive, and I didn't think it was worth the money. From the Lady Luck, you could easily take a bus to the strip, very inexpensively. I also had the best luck on slots there. Hope this helps!

I am going to suggest the Flamingo Hilton and Harrahs
Both are "strip" hotels, very much in the center of the action
Also, in case you are going to the Convention center you can jump on the Monorail (there is a station at Harrahs)
Cross the street and you will be at Caesars, Bellagio, and so much more
Enjoy

If you don't care about a casino on site and are just using the room to shower and sleep in, then I suggest the Hampton Inn on Dean Martin Drive, off Tropicana. It's about a block off the Strip, behind Excalibur. I stayed there this year and it was really nice. It was very clean and not super noisy. The staff was attentive and nice too.

in conserving with once you go, you'll hit upon rooms at Flamingo, Bally's, and Harrah's for $70 or a lot less. they are all positioned centrally on the strip. Flamingo has the added effective pool, and the added effective area; it become also at the moment renovated, so it is a touch extra as a lot as date than the different 2. different inns possibly on your budget: Excalibur (possibly to be extra children the following than at different places; area is wonderful) Luxor (youthful crowd, older and somewhat rundown, ok area) The Quad (tremendous area, being renovated, acceptance as rather dumpy at the same time as Imperial Palace) Circus Circus (i ought to steer away from this) Stratosphere (ditto - tremendous spot, yet horrid area)
