Google it. Search under the name you intend to use.

Or, go to business name finder under google. You have about 3 or 4 companies that have huge database that specialize in that sort of thing.

Go to www.411.com; www.yellowpages.com - search your name there. Nothing should come up. Try various combinations.

Try web name registrars ( so many, can't list here) - try to register your name - but not pay - and see if it comes up as "taken".

As an aside - Delaware appears to be a good place to incorporate. Low taxes.

Better yet when you apply for your license they'll run a state wide check to determine if a existing business already has the name registered.you can on occasion lease a name. ....................my licensed business name is held by a company on the other side of the state I live in. I'm paid0.02% of every buck they make:)
