If you are just babysitting one child of age 2 or 3, I would charge that price if I was experienced with good references based on your age. If doing 7.50X4 hours=$30. Which isn't bad.

Since I am getting my A.S degree in child development, I am going to be charging $10 an hour. I normally charge $20 for 4 hours for the two girls I been babysitting.

I normally will help the parents out of they are low on cash too.

Just make sure you are qualified for CPR/first aid. I would also pay a girl more (bonus) if I was a mother if she had experience and knowledge of Child Development education. Whether she took a few courses at her high school or go to clinics/seminars being held in the community.

Wow! Even if you had a degree in Early Childhood Education, that seems like a lot! But, it's always what the market can bear. I know I will seem very old to you, but just for comparison's sake - when I started babysitting, around 1971, I was getting 35 cents an hour - and I had to do the dishes and tidy the house. When I asked one mom I babysat regularly for if I could have a raise to 50 cents, she went and complained to my mom! How the world has changed!

13 is still young to expect to get paid what someone with a few years of experience would get. Find out what the competition in your neighborhood is charging. Then adjust your rates accordingly. Make sure your kids are having fun as they report back to their parents who they like & don't like. Also be on time, be available to babysit most times & maybe help out with dishes if they aren't done as many working parents really appreciate any help they can get. Pretty soon you will have built up a steady and loyal base of customers!

The going rate nation wide is 10 dollars an hour for an educated CPR trained sitter in her mid teenage years.

I think you're just right for your age and area. If you're good at what you do, and not having a problem finding work then you are not charging too much.

When i was sitting it was 3 bucks an hour. lol.

$7.50 an hour is not too much if you do your job properly. Taking care of children may be the toughest job sometimes and it needs to be paid well. But if you are not a responsible baby-sitter (i.e. you're watching TV or blabbling with someone on the phone while you're supposed to be paying attention to the children), then you are way over paid.

I usually get $5 an hour but if you are a trained babysitter then you should be getting about what you are now. If not, you should lower your rates to about $5 or $6 an hour.

age 3-13. And arent you tooo young to babysit, that is called child labor you know? that is really bad. you shouldnt do that. that not legal. but to answer your question is not much at all.

I would ask for 5. If they think you are doing a good job they can give you a tip. Also, if you find people consistently give you more, then raise it to 6 or so. It's not worth loosing customers over a few dollars.

If the parents are willing to pay you that much then no its not too much. If you have had several parents say your prices are too high then they dont much care whos caring for there child and are just looking for a cheap route. Stick with your origional prices.
