In 1968, Enoch Powell made a racist and grossly inflammatory speech against government immigration policy.

Do you think that he was a man ahead of his time?

Do you think that he has at least been partly vindicated in terms of his "Rivers Of Blood" Speech.

A delicate issue so sensible observations only please.

Targetdummy20 the reason why Indians don't want Coke-Cola is because the beverage (as supplied to Indian people) contains a high level of pesticides and in high doses is poisenous.
American Cola is now banned in many states in India.
Hmmmmmmm........ I think there is another question in there somewhere!

Yes, he was ahead of his time, yes he has been partly vindicated, and I fear may very well be fully vindicated, its only a matter of time. He has also been vindicated on the European issue as well!! He spoke as he saw Britain's future, a country and nation he loved so much.At least Enoch Powell won't have to witness the balkanization of his nation. Your children and grandchildren won't be nearly so fortunate.

One of the key tenets we all fail to recognise is growth, personal and national.
If you look and observe history and the world around us we all evolved at fundamentally different rates..
For example there have been times in history where some nations have been building globe spanning empires when others have still been living in tribal societies and using the shield and spear.
Some cultures are still growing. The middle east for example is extremely religious, they are no different in their zealous behaviour than Europe was in the middle ages.
The problem we have is we have introduced technologies and values from one culture into another without bothering to consider whether this was a good thing.
We rather condeseningly decided to introduce values, culture and technologies into areas that should have been left alone. All in the name of 'doing good'. Well unfortunately some people, especially the middle east and islamic clerics feel threatened by it and want no part of it. Our obstinate and continued effort to cram our world down their throats has led to a backlash.
We opened the bottle and the genie is out. Unfortunately we now may get more than we wanted.
I was in India 3 years ago when they tried to open a KFC in Bangalore. The locals burnt it to the ground. In a city bigger than London. Why ? Because they want their own culture and are afraid of coca cola, KFC and other consumer obsessed values.

Not everybody wants the American dream. The dream to others is a nightmare. I think segregation was and is the only way to go. Let them have their values and country and just leave them to it.

I'm sure Mr Powell was a man of vision, although financial repatriation didn't seem to work,i think it was £2000 to go back to were you came. All this did was provide cash for dope smugling, plus you could come back after so long anyway.there is a bit more to the social decline we find in our society today.is it an immigrants fault that a fair percentage of our young women have sex so freely, with no thought for the poor children involved as a result. No we have to take some of the blame ourselves.

Yes, he was a man ahead of his time. A great Statesman. I quite often think about his speech and I think most British people- in the generally accepted sense of the word- do the same.

What a sad nation of cowards we have become.

I'm not qualified to answer your question, sir. But I would like to thank you for responding to my question 'are you scared?'
Lots of readers have answered me saying,'you could get run over by a bus tomorrow,' etc.
I really wanted to know whether people are aware of the acceleration of terrorism. I believe that for every 'plan A' that the authorities intercept, there is a 'plan B' of attack, and one day they WILL get through again.
