my folks are the worst! they dont let me go anywhere, and if they do it takes a lot of convincing. i have to be with them at all times and dont let me "wander". they gave me a phone so i could have frredom to talk to my friends, but they try to butt in whenever im talking. it drives me crazy!! it may be normal to some, but i wanna rip my hair out whenever this happens!! the worst part is that i wanna go to a college about hour and a half from home and theyre saying no because they rather have at home!!! how can i learn independence if i cant do things on my own!!!

some advice would be greatly appreciated.

You are very lucky to have such wonderful caring parents, but you will probably only appreciate them when you are grown up and away from home. When you are out on your own, you can do as you please when you are supporting yourself. You will learn independence by working within the guidelines set by your parents. Don't get mad at serious answers like this one - we were all teens once, and felt the same way you do now.

I thought some of what you said was normal, but once they limit your opportunity for colleges you just have to have a talk with them.

College is really important and if the one you would do best at is far away then so be it.

your parents are more protrective than mine and i'm 13. I suggest confronting them. They probably are afraid of the unknown and dangerous world we live in. just tell them how you feel and try and compromise.

they do need to let you learn responsiblity and they most definately need to respect your college wishes....compared to some teens you're really not asking for much!!!!

Once you're an adult you can do what you want.
