At 15, you will need a work permit for the majority jobs. Wait until you're 16 and you can apply at Michaels (great if you are crafty), Target, Schnucks (you'll be a bagger/cart attendant and it's mandatory to join the union), fast food places, etc. In the meantime, ask around your neighborhood, family, friends, etc. about babysitting, dog walking, mowing lawns, helping older people with chores around their homes, etc.
I'm sorry Slipknot had such a bad experience, but, since you obviously live in St. Louis (I'm in Lake St. Louis), you already know which areas are safe and which are not and should really base your decision on what area you live. I wonder if Slipknot is referring to the McDonalds at Grand and Chippewa . . . hmmmm.
Good luck!

I dont think st. louis is a good place for a 15 year old to run around in by themselves. Most teenagers work in McDonalds or Taco Bell or any fast food places. If you decide to do that, try to work in a smaller town close to St. Louis. I've been through the drive thrus in st. louis before and the cashier/order taker doesnt hand you the food like I've normally seen because its too dangerous. The food came down on this tray. Or maybe you know someone who works for a business and maybe they can help you get hired on where they are at.
