I also need to know why it will not go in reverse. It has a 3.5 liter

First, I now presently work at an auto auction and have worked there for over 2 years at two different locations. Seen lots of different cars, I love it.
Dodge Intrepid was the most "pushed thru" car, everybody agreed at the one location that had older cars and wrecks pulled through by a tow truck.
So, to you and anyone who might read this, be careful car shopping.

disconnect the trailer. Intrepids hate when you make them work like that.
