Original unit intermitantly fails to recognize remote lock/unlock command, or driver door lock/unlock switch. When this happens, usually hear relay(s) in DDM clicking randomly. Replaced with new DDM from dealer but systm does not recognize for any window or lock/unlock/lockout function. Put old unit back in and it continues to work as before. Exchanged new DDM for another - same results. Dealer said no programming required. Is there some combination of switch actions necessary to get unit to work? Is programming of the Body Control Module necessary? Don't know if it is related but dealer replaced ignition switch about 2 months ago, burnt contact causing instrument cluster to fluctuate wildly.

Your dealer is wrong.
I work in a GM dealership and I just checked the procedure.
The driver door module needs to be programmed at a dealership because it needs to be recognized by the rest of the system.
