the fastest I can recall is a MIG which can go Mach 3. Commerical planes such as the 747 go around 700 MPH

most commercial planes go like 500-600 mph but then there are Concordes that break the sound barrier(750mph) going near 1000 mph i think... then there are US military jets... who knows
